Hired was shot in collaboration with Altrincham Town hall, who supported the project by providing their venue.
HIRED is our way of starting a conversation and highlighting this issue to those who need to hear it most. The aim is to bring together those who can affect change within their respective industries with those who need this change the most. We also want to educate young people about workers rights and make them aware of problems they may face, such as fraudulent job applications.
HIRED
When Sam lands his first job as a professional performer, he quickly realises that the world he was promised is merely a façade for a much harsher reality.
HIRED is a social commentary which explores how the current work force exploits young people looking for opportunities at the beginning of their careers. This film delves into the faults of the creative industry in particular, however, this is an issue which spans across all professions. It is a raw and transparent depiction of the excitement and expectation which comes alongside the invitation to be a part of the system, and the disappointment and betrayal that follows. Managers and businesses fail to deliver on promises, they neglect their staff, forcing young people into situations where they are not only time bound but barely paid enough to survive.
The cycle of exploitation ends here.
COMPLETING THE CYCLE
In the wake of Portugal´s 2017 wildfires, Rick and Yas bought the land that would become Wolf Farm. On a journey to regenerate the forest, grow food and to teach. Permaculture is more than survival, it is coming closer to nature, community and the courage to begin again. This is their story.
Completing the Cycle is a story about wanting more in life. About the people who have taken the step to find a different way to live by going back to the very roots of humanity.
This documentary was part of a voluntary development in Portugal. We also contributed to the restoration of a ruined townhouse, planted new trees and helped out around the ever-growing farm.

A TENNER FOR YOUR TIME
Miles is a shell of a man. He has accepted his fate, homeless and far removed from the rest of society, when a kind stranger offers him a chance for change.
A Tenner For your Time is a humanistic story on how we perceive homelessness and the people who have, by choice or circumstances become an outsider to society.
The story asks questions such as how do we redeem ourself in the eyes of others and what do we do when our morals meet our desires.
